Upreach theraputic riding center-Mission — UpReach Therapeutic Equestrian Center, Inc.

Specific goals are identified for each participant and supported by a team of certified staff and trained volunteers. These activities include a variety of curriculum-based and workshop offerings, which provide an opportunity for participants to partner with horses to facilitate growth and learning. Horses, staff, and volunteers travel to Crotched Mountain during May-October to work in collaboration with their therapists and staff to ensure a safe, supportive, and positive experience for all participants. Programs include hippotherapy, therapeutic riding, and unmounted therapeutic horse experiences. Resilience Reins is a 7-week program for children ages and their families who have experienced a traumatic event.

Therapeutic riding is a mounted, equine-assisted program that enables participants to improve cognitive, emotional, social, and behavioral abilities by learning equestrian riding skills. Therapeutic riding lessons are specifically tailored to each individual's abilities and goals. When on the back of a horse, the rider's pelvis naturally moves in a manner that closely mimics walking. Therapeutic riding leads to:.

Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor, ensuring that all activities occur safely for both humans and horses. Lessons occur year-round in our 90'x' insulated arena and, weather depending, participants can enjoy the outdoor arena and a two mile sensory trail. Most lessons are held in groups of two or more participants and are 60 minutes in length. Lessons occur Monday - Friday and participants take lessons once a week.

UpReach operates in six-week, seven-week, and eight-week terms, with participants attending lessons on the same day and time. Please note: therapeutic riding is not billable to insurance. Payment or payment arrangements are due in advance and due dates are noted on the UpReach calendar. UpReach provides financial assistance based on income when scholarship funding is available.
